For the Meatloaf
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Can substitute with gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free option.
  • 0.5 cup onion, finely chopped Can use finely chopped vegetables like bell peppers or carrots.
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg Helps bind ingredients, can be omitted for a vegetarian version.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
For the Glaze
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, milk, ketchup, brown sugar, egg, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently until evenly combined.
Cooking
  1. Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a baking dish. In another bowl, combine ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar to make the glaze. Pour half of the glaze over the meatloaf and bake for 1 hour, basting with the remaining glaze halfway through.
Serving
  1. Once cooked, let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans, or a simple side salad. Leftover meatloaf can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
