  • 1.5 pounds ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs You can substitute with crushed crackers or oats.
  • 0.5 cup onion, chopped Sautéing the onions before mixing adds extra flavor.
  • 0.5 cup milk Ensure it's full-fat for better moisture.
  • 2 pieces eggs
  • 0.25 cup ketchup For mixing into the meatloaf.
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup ketchup (for topping) Spread evenly over the top before baking.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, eggs, ¼ cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until everything is just combined.
Baking
  1. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
  2. Spread the remaining ketchup evenly over the top.
  3. Bake for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
Serving
  1. Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes after baking to allow the juices to settle.
  2. Slice and serve warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

For a moist meatloaf, consider adding finely chopped bell peppers or grated carrots. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the meatloaf is cooked properly.
