Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Glaze Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the mixture. Shape it into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
Baking
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce to make the glaze. Spread half of it evenly over the meatloaf and bake for 45 minutes.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven, top with the remaining glaze, and bake another 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra moisture, consider adding grated vegetables like carrots or zucchini. Experiment with different types of meat, such as ground turkey or sausage for a unique flavor. Use fresh herbs like parsley or thyme for added freshness.
