Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 8 cups clean, fresh snow Light and fluffy, collected from an untouched area.
  • 1 cup milk Whole milk works best, but any milk is fine.
  • ½ cup granulated sugar This can be adjusted for lower sugar diets.
Optional Flavor Add-Ins
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder For chocolate snow cream variant.
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup Use in place of sugar for a maple flavor.
  • ¼ tsp almond extract

Method

Preparation
  1. Scoop fresh, clean snow from an untouched area or set a bowl outside during snowfall. Avoid roads, trees, and areas with footprints.
Mix the Base
  1. In a large bowl, whisk the milk and sugar together until mostly dissolved. If using vanilla or other flavorings, add them now.
Combine and Serve
  1. Gently fold snow into the milk mixture a little at a time until it reaches a soft-serve ice cream texture. Serve immediately before it melts.

Notes

For best texture, serve snow cream right away. You can add sprinkles or mini chocolate chips, drizzle chocolate or caramel sauce, and top with crushed cookies or candy canes.
